Curiosity cost 2.5 billion $$; where do they get that kind of money?
Or how about instead of complaining about money going towards something that has the potential to further the human race, you could complain about the hundreds of times larger amounts of money we spend on invading other countries and killing people?
Just a thought.
Here is the full quote. It really isn’t any better.
“Nobody’s opposed to cops or firefighters or teachers.” But then he followed that with “But they aren’t private sector jobs. They do not contribute to economic growth. Their purpose is otherwise. They have an entirely different purpose: Public safety, public education, this kind of thing. But there’s no growth in the economy. If you add those jobs — and if there aren’t other types of private sector jobs added while at the same time we’re adding to the fire rolls and the cop rolls and teachers — we are reducing the size of the private sector. This is Marxism 101. It’s also Ignorance and Sophistry 101.”
I guess that I don’t add any growth to the economy either, being just a librarian. It’s not like I contribute anything to society, or ever buy goods and services anyway.
Every time they put out a fire or save a life they are just contributing to the inefficiencies in the system.
If anyone asks yet again, why the occupiers all over the county are protesting, direct them to this.
It’s the answer they have all been waiting for.
“You control our world. You’ve poisoned the air we breath, contaminated the water we drink, and copyrighted the food we eat. We fight in your wars, die for your causes, and sacrifice our freedoms to protect you. You liquidated our savings, destroyed our middle class, and used our tax dollars to bailout your unending greed. You’ve stolen our elections, assassinated our leaders, and abolished our basic rights as human beings. You own our property, shipped away our jobs, and shredded our unions. You’ve profited off of disaster, destabilize our currencies, and raised our cost of living. You’ve monopolized our freedom, stripped away our education, and have almost extinguished our flame. We are hit…We are Bleeding… but We Ain’t Got Time to Bleed. We will bring the giants to their knees and you will witness our revolution!”
NOW GET OUT OF THE WAY
There are a lot of reasons to not elect Romney:
Priorities USA Action, a Super PAC that supports President Obama, released this absolutely brutal video this morning, going after the former Massachusetts governor on the economy. The flip-flops weren’t mentioned at all, because they didn’t have to be.
Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the launch of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
It seems like only yesterday that we could wear our shoes on planes and pack a tube of toothpaste without fear of being tackled by a rotund security officer. But is America any safer for it?
In honor of this milestone, read Legal Editor Jeffrey Rosen’s examination of TSA and the right to privacy in “Nude Breach” from the December 13th, 2010 issue (sub. req.).
ALERT: Impending attack on Occupy Madison (Wisconsin)
Public Health has demanded that Occupy Madison apply for a Special Event Campground permit for the 800 block of the city owned Don Miller property (East Washington and Livingston). Members were informed that this permit was required to be filed by noon Wednesday, November 2nd.
At Occupy Madison’s 26th General Assembly (10/01) it was decided by consensus to not comply with this demand. We are well informed that a process to remove the occupation could follow including citations and arrests. We at Occupy Madison fully expect these events to occur soon after noon tomorrow, the 2nd of November.
Join us in person to stand in solidarity with occupation efforts across the globe. Spread the word as widely as possible. Demand the personal involvement of the mayor. Occupy Madison is not camping. We’re a political demonstration of resistance against austerity well within our rights of free speech and peaceable assembly.
Thank you for the consideration, Solidarity!
We’re pleased to bring you The Pork Barrel.
When we posted earlier this week on nwk tumblr that Newsweek basically had a “stack of spending-request letters between these GOP members and federal agencies stands more than a foot tall,” shortformblog was all, “Create a Tumblr called PoliticiansAskingForMoney.tumblr.com. It would be awesome.”
It’s a great idea.
So let’s do it.
Starting today you’ll find a handful of letters sent from politicians seeking funding or federal support for their local projects (ie. pork). Some were on the site on Monday. Others have yet to see the light of day. We’ll keep posting these scans, at least once a day, until the trough has run dry. We encourage you to read closely, and if you live near one of these projects, let us how things turned out.
We can be reached at email@example.com. Tips, local news reports, and additional spending-request letters are most certainly welcome.
Presenting the newest member of the nwk tumblr family: The Pork Barrel!
